Many things are happening around the beach and many improvements are being made. During this time, we've noticed a substantial increase in the use of BEMANCO properties. We want to encourage our residents to continue to enjoy the benefits this community has to offer. There are great opportunities for children, and adults also, to learn about enjoying the outdoors, especially during this time of being together while having to distance socially. Many are taking the opportunity to fish, go for walks, sit and enjoy the scenery and wildlife, kayak, canoe, and even sailboard. Some of my favorite things I've seen thus far are: parents taking their kids on the beaches to explore, and seeing a couple sit in their car at Long Point eating and watching the evening arrive.
BEMANCO is working hard to improve our properties, and ask that everyone take an interest in helping to protect our neighborhood resources. It might surprise you that being on the Board of Directors of either BEMANCO or The Golden Beach Patuxent Knolls Civic Association, is a Volunteer position and that the majority of the work being done is by great volunteers from our neighborhood who want to help make this a great place to live and raise kids. We can only continue to provide the services as long as there is continued support from you. We ask that you help by reporting any vandalism so we can attempt to identify the individuals responsible and get restitution. We have already served one individual with a no trespassing order but hope he will one day offer his services in a positive way. This week several things have been going on: Bensons Pier was finished and docking cleats were ordered. The next phase of Long Point grounds improvements was started. Rod holders were installed on the fishing pier at small beach through the generosity of one of our neighbors.. We are aware there are a few boards missing and will be replacing those soon. A donated and refurbished picnic table was put at Main Beach near the grill. We had two food trucks. Approximately 400 vehicle stickers were issued this weekend, bringing the total to over 500. Trent hall Pier is scheduled to be redecked in some areas, in the near future. There are many more items on the never ending list, but it is great to see our community enjoying things so far. When this national event is over, we look forward to having activities sponsored by the GBPKCA once again.
